It was originally sold in Geneva, Switzerland and played in a local marching band, before it was stored for a long time. It comes without case, but with a JK flugel mouthpiece and a somewhat larger mouthpiece receiver on the leadpipe.
That's why vintage Couesnons, Courtois and Selmers are still highly sought after by professional players all around the world. Those horns have a legendary reputation because of their playability and smoooth sound all over the range. This a great playing horn with a beautiful sound and and good intonation. It comes back from a professional overhaul and chem clean with new felts and corks. The valves are smooth and fast with good compression, all slides and caps are free. The original plating is in good condition, there are a few very minor dings- we are talking about a 60+ year old horn. But used condition with small spots of plating wear, especially on the valve slides- I took some fotos to give you an impression. The valve section is identical to the French Besson brevete flugelhorns of the same era- Besson and Couesnon cooperated for few years after the war, having their manufactures located at the same address Rue d' Angouleme in Paris. The Monopole Conservatoire model was manufactured in little numbers as top of the line professional model.
Serial number is 12002 which puts its manufacture right after WW2 in Paris.
Here comes a rare vintage french Couesnon Monopole flugelhorn in great shape.
